Learn the pulp sequelae of pulp capping

Patient: 23 year-old female in excellent health

Chief Complaint: swollen gums

Dental History: The patient reported having had a deep filling placed within the last 5 years (Tooth #3) of the date of first examination.. A buccal fistula developed with a history of swelling and was diminished after the patient’s dentist prescribed Amoxicillin.

Significant Findings: Examination and tests revealed the following significant exam and test findings for tooth #3:

  1. Slight percussion sensitivity
  2. Negative response to cold thermal stimulation
  3. A large defined periapical radiolucency involving the mesiobuccal root extending into the furcation
