All of us have experienced patient consultations where orthodontic treatment would provide a tremendous benefit to the patient and would assist other members of the interdisciplinary team in their treatment delivery and yet so often the patient refuses to wear braces. As a consequence, the final treatment result suffers great compromise. In some cases, even modest changes in tooth position could offer dramatic assistance to other members of the interdisciplinary team to improve their ability to provide their highest quality treatment with the patient being the ultimate beneficiary.
Patients who are considering restoration of their dentition often have concerns regarding the potential orthodontic component due to the treatment time, cost and appearance of the appliances required for optimal treatment. This presentation will include numerous patients where these objections were minimized by using innovative strategies without sacrificing the quality of treatment. Removable aligner applications and other combination treatments will be presented and discussed.
