This course will lead the participants through the process of understanding the principles of the design of the access cavity in regard to their influences on the direct clinical outcome of the endodontic treatment performed. In the beginning of the Minimal Invasive Endodontics era, both general dentists and endodontists should critically analyze and judge the benefits and drawbacks of the new clinical procedures, which are started to be taught. This course aims to let the dental professionals understand more closely the aspects of the scientifically support of the clinical steps, thus trying to better integrate the results of the surrogate outcome studies into a desired direct outcome result.

Course Outline

A. Brief overview of how outcomes are measured in Endodontics
B. Overview of the traditional principles of the access cavity design
C. Newly introduced terms, clinical principles in the design of the access cavities
D. Evidence based review of the influence of the access design on the outcome


  1. A better way of apprehend new ideas and technologies in the endodontic practice.
  2. A clear vision on the steps and principles needed to be followed when performing an endodontic access cavity

Dr. Cristescu graduated from the Dental Medicine School UMF Carol Davila, Bucharest in 2004, then received his Master’s degree in biomaterials at Politechnics University Bucharest in 2006. He received his specialization in endodontics at ACTA, Amsterdam, The Netherlands in 2011. He is currently has a practice limited to endodontics in Amsterdam and is an associate clinical teacher at Warwick Dentistry, Warwick Medical School, UK.
