Internal Treatment Approach to Type 4 Heithersay Resorption

Type 4 Heithersay resorption can often be treated even when surgical access is not possible

Patient: 48 year-old male in good health

Chief Complaint: asymptomatic

Dental History: Patient reported a history of orthodontics

Significant Findings The patient was self-referred and had provided his own CBCT scan having noted a root radiolucency consistent with external resorption on tooth #25.. The author’s clinical tests revealed class 2 mobility for both teeth #’s 24 and 25. Teeth #’s 24, 25 and 26 responded positively to cold thermal stimulation. The periapical radiographs showed a root radiolucency (#25) consistent with the provided CBCT scan. The probing depths of all teeth were with within normal limits but there was bleeding upon probing of the at the B and MB areas of tooth #25.
