One of the age old questions of endodontic treatment is “Can a complex root canal system be adequately cleaned to eliminate endodontic disease and definitively prevent disease in the future?”

In this interactive panel discussion, Drs. Barrington, Pannkuk and others will discuss actual cleared root sections with complex apical anatomy and then highlight treated clinical cases. The interactive webinar will include participation of leading endodontic program directors, their residents, and PDL subscribed registrants.

Objectives

  1. At the end of this webinar the participants will have a clear understanding of the complex variable forms of tooth root anatomy.
  2. At the end of the discussion, the participants will be able to institute different instrumentation approaches to address complex root canal curves and branching.
  3. At the completion of this program participants will be able to discuss the limitations and benefits of currently available instruments to treat root canal systems.

Biography

Dr. Barnett received his DMD degree in 1978 and his Certificate in Endodontics in 1981, both from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Dental Medicine. He received his Board Certification in Endodontics in 1988, has served as the Director of Postdoctoral Endodontics at the University of Pennsylvania, and is currently the Chairman of the Department of Dental Medicine and Chairman and Program Director of the IB Bender Postdoctoral Endodontic Program at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia.

Dr. Barnett has written numerous scientific and clinical papers and has lectured nationally and internationally on the Treatment of Endodontic Infections, Revascularization, Dental Trauma and Contemporary Endodontic Treatment. He currently serves on the Advisory Board of the Dental Traumatology Journal, is a Director of the International Association of Dental Traumatology and is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Endodontics. Dr. Barnett has also been in private practice in Endodontics from 1981-2011.

Biography

Dr. Barrington received his DDS from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 1996. He has lectured to a variety of dental societies and study clubs and has written and co-written a number of articles for various dental journals. Dr. Barrington is a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon. He is an associate member of the American Academy of Endodontists. He is an adjunct clinical professor in the AEGD program at the A&M College of dentistry. He has a patent pending in clearing and diaphonization. He has maintained a practice in Waxahachie, Texas for the past 18 years.

Biography

After completing dental school at Baylor in 1985, I started a private practice in San Antonio, TX. In 1991 I was commissioned in the United States Public Health Service and served in two different Federal prisons for about 8 years. I started a practice limited to Endodontics as a General Dentist for over 9 years in Waco, TX and joined the Air Force in 2008. Upon completion of the Lackland AFB, TX AEGD-2 Residency in June 2010, I became the Deputy Director of the AEGD Residency at Scott AFB, IL. In May 2011 I completed requirements for board certification in the American Board of General Dentistry. I became the Director of the Scott AFB AEGD Residency in August 2012 and the Langley AFB AEGD Residency in August 2016.

Biography

Dr. Terry Pannkuk, a native of California, graduated from University of California at Los Angeles with a degree in Biology, Georgetown Dental School with a D.D.S., and Boston University with an M.Sc.D. in Endodontics. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics, former editor and publisher of The Endodontic Report, former president of the Boston University Endodontic Alumni Association, current reviewer for the Journal of Endodontics (official journal of the American Association of Endodontists), Past President of the Academy of Microscope Enhanced Dentistry, President and Founder of the Schilder Institute for the Advancement of Endodontics, Editor and Publisher of PDL (Pure Dental Learning), Volunteer Clinical Professor at the University of California at San Francisco, and international lecturer-author of topics relating to clinical endodontics.

He lives and practices in Santa Barbara, California.
