What are the factors that determine the long term treatment success of a compromised tooth?

Patient: 75 year old female (1995) 92 years old at recall exam (2012), mild hypertension, pre-diabetic

Chief Complaint: “broken down tooth”

Dental History (Tooth #15): The patient reported a history of previous root canal treatment many years earlier (performed with silver points). The crown had fallen off and required replacement. Internal retention with a post was planned and a post space requested by the dentist referring to the author.
