Demonstration of Crown-Root Fracture Repair

Crown-root fractures are the most commonly encountered treatment complexities during endodontic treatment

Patient: 60 year-old female with controlled hypertension

Chief Complaint: patient reported a recently increasing toothache

Dental History: The patient’s dentist had prepared the maxillary left first molar (tooth #14) for a crown and pain begin increasing to a level requiring an emergency visit to the author.

Significant Findings: Moderate percussion sensitivity was localized to tooth #14. Tooth #14 was also slightly sensitive to chewing and responded negatively to cold thermal stimulation. The periodontal probing depths were within normal limits yet there was slight bleeding upon probing at the DL line angle of tooth #14.
